Your contribution is a direct investment in your child’s education and your community!
The Direct Appeal Campaign is a fundraising effort by Spruce's PTA. Contributions for the Direct Appeal are primarily from Spruce families (and employer matches). It usually supports up to one-third of the annual PTA budget each school year.
Why do we need to raise funds?
State and city school budgets cover the minimal required needs of our students. Your donation helps support programs and expenses that the PTA pays for that are not covered by taxes through the NYC Department of Education.

The money from Direct Appeal goes toward many things like:
How much should I donate?
That is up to your family financial situation. All donation sizes are appreciated and work toward our school-wide goal of 100% participation. The PTA usually spends roughly $900 per child during this school year, contributing to the Direct Appeal Campaign is a great way to help sustain the programs the PTA is able to pay for.
How do I donate?
Either online or with cash or check by returning the printable form. You can pay all at once or via installments.
Can my employer match my contribution?
Many employers match charitable contributions. Check here if your employer will match your contribution to Spruce Street and double your impact!
If you're volunteering for events/committees, don't forget to search grant opportunities with your employer as a way to recognize your ongoing support.

- Trained recess staff to help keep kids safe and happy while they play

Spruce Street School, P.S. 397, Parent-Teacher Association Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations made to Spruce Street School, P.S. 397, Parent-Teacher Association Inc. will be tax-deductible to the extent provided under law.
